FANZA is built for the Japanese market, so two things shape your first visit: an 18+ confirmation and an interface that is only in Japanese. Neither is hard to handle. This guide explains both.
The 18+ confirmation
Before adult content is shown, the site asks you to confirm that you are 18 or older. You answer on the page itself, usually by choosing the option that says you are an adult. If you choose the other option, you are sent away from the adult section.
Stay logged in to your DMM account while you browse, since this keeps the experience consistent. Browsers that clear cookies on exit may show the confirmation again on each visit. If you have not created an account yet, start with How to create a FANZA (DMM) account.
The site’s rules about what age confirmation is required can be updated. This guide describes the on-page confirmation as it normally appears; the official help pages are the authority.
There is no English interface
FANZA does not offer an English language setting. Menus, product pages, checkout and emails are in Japanese. That is a design choice for the Japanese market, and it is the main difference from stores that provide an English interface (see FANZA vs DLsite).
Practical ways to read the site
Browser page translation
Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox can translate whole pages. Turn it on when you open a page. Expect imperfect results, especially for buttons, so check that a translated label matches the Japanese before you press it, particularly at checkout.
Phone camera translation
Translation apps that read your screen or camera work well for one-off forms and confirmation emails.
Keep the Japanese visible
When you do not trust a translation, compare it with the original text. A few memorised terms help a lot.
Useful terms
These labels were checked on FANZA’s own pages, but exact labels may differ slightly between FANZA services and over time.
| Japanese | Reading | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| ログイン | roguin | Log in |
| 無料会員登録 | muryou kaiin touroku | Free member registration |
| バスケット | basuketto | Basket (cart) |
| 購入 | konyuu | Purchase |
| お気に入り | okiniiri | Favorites |
| 支払い方法 | shiharai houhou | Payment method |
| ポイント | pointo | Points |
| クレジットカード | kurejitto kaado | Credit card |
Many terms are Japanese pronunciations of English words, written in katakana, so you will recognise more than you expect.
Checkout: slow down
The checkout is the place where a mistranslation matters. Before you confirm, check the item, the price and the payment method. Our payment guide explains why charging points first is the safer route for cards issued outside Japan.
When you travel
FANZA’s help pages say customers accessing from outside Japan cannot use credit cards (support.fanza.jp/payment/article/48822, note 1). If you will be away from Japan, buy what you need before you go.
Summary
- Expect a simple 18+ confirmation on the page before adult content appears.
- There is no English interface; use browser or app translation.
- Verify translated buttons at checkout against the Japanese text.
- Learn a handful of katakana terms to navigate faster.
